New Beech Cross Studio for David Jenkins Design

6 Oct 2009

David Jenkins Design secured planning permission for a garage with studio over in September 2004 and with permission about to expire building work commenced last month. A reinforced raft foundation was constructed to provide support for the new brick building and address the close proximity of trees. An offsite manufactured trussed roof option was sought to allow for potential office loading and maintain a clear span over the garage. With only a slight delay (as the truss delivery could not get under the Bluebell Railway bridges), they were lifted into place by crane today. The new studio will help to separate home from work and provide a well insulated energy efficient working environment capable of allowing the practice to develop in the future.
